Just curious- Are there any commercial 6.5 or 7mm cartridges based on the 9.3x62 case that are currently available?

That's what I thought. The reference book, "Cartridges of The World", lists a couple of old RWS rounds, I believe, that may have never caught on. Any such round would be mostly superfluous, given the 06' based rounds out there, and the 7x64. I was thinking it might make it easier for feeding with a switch barrel mauser in 9.3x62 if such rounds existed.

Go with an 06 based case you will never see the difference on feeding.

I know of no caliber on the 9.3x62 case. Lots on the 9.3x57 case necked up and down...
I would not build a 9.3 on the 30-06 case and I would not shoot a 9.x62 if the owner was using 30-06 cases in the 9.x62 chamber. You get a definate bulge in the 06 case head, the brass is therefore weakened and even when one full length resizes then brass life is short cases start splitting out and sometimes gas spews, and many say its a dangerous practice including Pierre van der Walt in his African Dangerous Game cartridges..He further states the the 35 Whelen is as close to the 9.3x62 as dammit is to cussing...Good book.

In my early days with the 9.3x62 when the old Mausers were in every store in the USA and no ammo was available and very little in the way of bullets, I had to use 30-06 cases and I was a recipient of all these problems in my old Mauser. But young and brave my only response to such things was damn somethings wrong here and kept shooting. shame

+1

So the take-home message is:
either enjoy the 9.3x62 as is,
get a 35 Whelen and load separately,
or get a new small-calibre rifle.
