Remember in its day K-mart was the largest retailer of guns & ammo in the U.S.!I would much rather see a Steyr in Wal-Mart's sporting goods dept.then the endless isles of crap from China through out the store.
Still aint enough reason for me to walk into a Wal-Mart.
Cry 'Havoc,' and let slip the dogs of war; That this foul deed shall smell above the earth With carrion men, groaning for burial.
I don't mind Walmart too much, if you can get around the Chinese stuff, screaming child in every aisle and the way they frequently treat their employees. Before they moved into the area we had lost most of the gun / outdoor stores any way.
But Steyr at Walmart? From their website:
@ $1,900.00 US... None of our local stores usually carries anything like that.

I have not seen one at a Wal-Mart myself but it is my understanding that the store can order it in - no problem. They just need someone to ask.

re: rosie and kmart. yeah, and had not occurred to me but how many things you seen her advertising lately. i'm betting companies aren't fighting each other to have that sow endorse their products. she may have the economic stench of death on her and couldn't happen to a more deserving person.
i've never tried to buy but one gun at walmart and that was TN. the clerk, older guy old enough to know better, didn't think people should be buying so many guns and turned it into such an ordeal i gave up and left. since living in TX, one coworker did the "print the order form and go to walmart and have them get it" deal and it worked just fine. i think is a foodchain issue of the hired help at the individual store.
I have a buddy who bought one from them about a month ago. He went to their web site, printed off the data/item sheet, took it to the lady at the sporting goods counter, and received the gun about 9 days later. Life is Good!

At a WallyWorld near me there's a pair of Vanguards in .300Wby. The sythetic is $389 and the wood stock is $489. I'm not buying right now, but they sure look nice.

Walmart out in Middle Island, Suffolk County, NY are getting rid of all their firearms and they will not be selling firearms at that location anymore. Poor sales is the excuse I was given.
In stock they had a .300 Wby Vanguard Synthetic (blued barrel) for $388.88. Not bad if you're looking for .300 Wby. They also had one in a 7mm RM. I refused both of them.
I just ordered a 700 BDL .243 Win. via doing the download on their website and taking it to the store. It was done through layaway and I paid a 50% (including tax) deposit. Good price. I did a Google search using Rem. 700 .243 and it was on the second page. I hope when I get the rifle it doesn't have 2 barrels and a dozen j locks!

A search should pull up plenty of threads on trying to buy special order guns at Walmart. The short version is "DON"T".
You cannot imagine the number of ways those folks can screw up and screw you over.
The most creative I have run into was when I had gotten through the entire process after about six weeks and as many store trips, filed out the paperwork, passed the background check, paid for the gun, and THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ME THE GUN.
Policy says that each gun must be walked out the door by a manager. No manager available, no gun. No getting your 50% deposit back, neither.

Call anything you wanna, Dung, but exactly that happened to me. They would not give me the gun and they would not refund my money.
Wound up going home, coming back the next day or the day after (50 mile round trip), getting jerked around for another two hours, paying for another background check, and filling out another set of paperwork to get the gun. (They had lost the first set, naturally.)
I ain't been back since, and ain't going.
If you still have any doubts, search this site for Wally World and Walmart for more horror stories than you want to read.

For Steyr magazines....at SOMETIMES decent prices (depends on cartridge, unfortunately), check www.eGun.de ... and click on "Jagwaffen", then on "Steyr". Euro is about 1.25 x dollar.
