I visited the Mauser website and discovered this fine looking little rifle. I would love to get my hands on one of them.

Has anyone seen one in person?

I think it would get the animals attention.

When I deer hunt in Oklahoma, I am required by law to wear 400 square inches of hunter orange above the waistline, and I have had no problem with deer spotting me. So, I don't see that a little orange on a gun stock would cause any trouble.

I think the two tone stock looks "sporty".

I use a Sauer 202 Hardwood two tone with the same coloured stock as the Mauser Trail. You can ask a lot of killed boars or stags whether they saw a difference between a normal and such a coloured stock! Wink

Fair enough. Here in B.C. hunter orange is not required. I was throwing it out there, on assumption. The correction is noted.

Here is a couple of pictures of my son decked out in his hunter orange. Both these bucks were killed from open ladder stands, and the deer were less than 75 yards away.

That orange wouldn't be a problem other than asthetically for folks. Another thing I noticed is that I really don't like how close together the front and rear sights are on most of those rifles.

Yes, and I already have a Blaser R-93 Tracker and LOVE IT. Here is a picture of my Tracker.

Hi Jeff

As far as I know there is now no one handling Mausers in the US since Briley dropped them or Mauser dropped Briley. My local shop owner said Mauser came and picked up all the inventory and returned it to Germany- kinda wild, they didn't transfer it to another distributor.

I hope my information is wrong.

There is a reason for the Zeiss scopes. My Dad was a Zeiss rep for a while. Wink

The Mausers are fine, but abit pricey for me now, as compared to Sauer rifles, the tracker version i s nice, and i like the JagdMatch version good.

About the Zeiss scopes. a whole family of hunters and shooters i know said "we dont wander into the woods with Tasco`s". They have been using Zeiss for years and they sweare by them , so much hunting the scopes see every year its a sign of quality and performance.
