I used to use a lot of speer bullets but they droped two of my favorites, the mag tip and the deep shock.

I think their latest (I forget what they call it now) is simply the deep shock reincarnated at a premium price. Their plain vannila bullets are fine for deer. Not much more.

I like trying different bullets but I also like to eventualy settle on specific loads and for my purposes Hornadys have delivered extremly well.

I also think that Accubonds are incredible bullets but can be cost prohibitive if you practice a lot.

Only Barnes..nothing else. The tree huggers will kill your lead bullets sooner or later. already pretty much have with M/LE so you may as well start to cozy up to the idea of using solid coppers. Besides, they are wicked killers and don't dissintegrate in your game. Your favorite companies are trying to play catch-up to Barnes technologies but they are several decades ahead. When you tell a PH or guide you brought Barnes they smile and pat you on the back. Nuff said.

Just tried out the Barnes 140 Gr. TSX. Good groups @ 100 yrds. Two pigs a 7 point buck dropped in their tracks without much blood shot. Dropped the Rem SP CL and Nosler BT. Too much damage. Thinking about trying Berger again for a blowup bullet in my TC Pro Hunter 270 Win.

I've heard on another forum that Hornady changed their Interlock. They moved the interlock further forward and it's causing more core separation. Not sure if anyone else has heard this. Here is the link to the topic. Mule Deer is gun writer John Barsness.

Nosler!!

Ballistic Tip + Partition = Accubond. It just adds up and at a decent price. I also like Sierra, Hornady and Core Lokts. If I were hunting DG, I'd probably look at the Barnes TSX 300 for my 375 H&H. That said, use what ever makes you warm and fuzzy. beer

For hunting I prefer Noslers Partitions or Accubonds. I have been shooting Nosler bullets since the Mid 1950s in 22-250, 257 Roberts, 257 Whby, 300 Whby, 30-06, 8X57R, 9.3X74R, 375 H&H.

Noslers are not "Super Do it All" bullets. However, when driven within their design parameters, they simply, do what they say they will do, every time.

I have never had a terminal ballistics failure of a Nosler bullet.

Just my opine!

Barnes TSX - shot everything from whitetails to cape buffalo and many more - never a bad experience and always do what they are supposed to.

I like Hornady because they are cheap, accurate, available, and I prefer a softer bullet for deer.

the two most accurate bullets used the "most" is both Barnes and Sierra. To date the Barnes is my overall hunting bullet, that does not undermine my use of the Partition bullet or any other brand I've on my bench. The Sierra is a super accurate bullet and I use it for seeing just how accurate one of my barrels are.

My Blaser R93 .338 win mag loves federal 225gr TBBC's and Remington 300gr swift A frames with the .375 H&H barrel.
My Beretta Mato .338 win mag also likes the federal TBBC
My Beretta Mato 300 win mag likes federal 200gr TBBC and federal 180gr nosler accubonds.

I don't have a "favorite" but my rifles do. So, I feed 'em what they like and will do the job I need done. ??

I voted for Barnes because I use and trust the TSX explicitly. I've killed hundreds of head of game with them and never had one single issue with bullet performance.

However I've been super happy with the Hornandy Interbond recently. They have great BC and they seem to hold together really well at half the price of the NAB or the TSX. Time will tell but I'm thinking that Hornandy has winner here.

Do you have to have a favorite?? I try to feed my rifles what they like best that is suited to the need.
Seems no one has mentioned plain, old, common Core Lokts. If your rifle will shoot them well, they are about as good as anything. And I have a couple of rifles that shoot them better than any other hunting bullet. If the rifle doesn't like CLs, and I'm traveling to hunt, I'll move up to a premium bullet like a NP or Grand Slam. I'm not sure why, I just do.
I don't believe in "magic" bullets that will compensate for lack of skill.

So far Hornady for big game (don't need much for whitetails). Barnes and Nosler for varmint.

20+ mule deer and 10+ elk with one shot. I will stick with the 180 gr Nosler Partition (.30 cal) leaving the muzzle in excess of 3k fps.

While I'm a Hornady fan, I have to say that Nosler makes a lot of damn good bullets! tu2

Gidday Guys,

I use hornadys after having tried most of the others. Noslers a just as good but cost more for no exta benefit.

Interlocts are all you need for wapiti, reds and tahr which are the hardest big game in NZ with the exception of feral cattle which do get an accubond.

Happy Hunting

I voted for the Nosler Partitions because I've used their 150g in my 270 for 30 plus years and they've always performed as advertised. That being said I'm shooting 570g TSX's in my 500 Jeffery, and I plan to shoot 350g Northfork softpoints and 250g Swift A-Frames in my 375 H&H depending on the game I'm after.

Regards,

Chuck

I only loaded Barnes & Woodleighs for my .338WM. The Barnes did not shoot bad at all but could only manage approx. 1-1.5" @ 100m. They are quite expensive in South Africa so I decided to try the Woodleighs. First time development gave me 5 charge weights under MOA. Best with the 250gr PPSN was .5" at 2550ft/s. Obviously I'm happy with them.

Cheers

The problem I had with the pole is I could only choose one bullet. I use Partitions and Barnes TSX exclusively when the cross-hairs are on animals. Speer and Sierra make up the paper punching crowd.

I don't shoot Hornady's anymore although there are still some on my shelf. BTW, if anyone wants to trade two for one Hornady's to Partition's, please let me know, I have lots and lots. :-)

GS Custom hands down for me! Since I've been using them I have had the most spectacular one shot kills I have ever experienced. I use them now for all my big game hunting.
