Anyone have good load data for the 9.3x57? Particularly, with 286 grain bullets. Thanks in advance. Mike

The following is data I obtained from Accurate Powders. Caliber: 9.3x57 Mauser Barrel length: 24†Powder: Accurate – 2460/2230-C. Bullet weight: 250 grains. Start load: 40.0 grains (1900 – 2000 ft/p/sec) Maximum load: 44.0 grains (2100 – 2200 Ft/p/sec). Bullet weight: 270 to 290grains. Start load: 35.0 grains (1650 – 1750 ft/p/sec) Maximum load: 41.0 grains (1900 – 2000 Ft/p/sec). Powder: AA 5744. Bullet weight: 270 to 290 grains. Reduced loads: Low load: 23.0 grains (1450 – 1550 ft/p/sec) Full power load: Start load: 27.0 grains (1650 -- 1750 Ft/p/sec) Maximum load: 35.0 grains (1950 -- 2050 Ft/p/sec). Powder: Accurate 2495. Bullet weight: 270 to 290 grains. Start load: 39.0 grains (1450 – 1550 ft/p/sec) Maximum load: 43.0 grains (1950 -- 2050 Ft/p/sec). Powder: Accurate 2700. Bullet weight: 270 to 290 grains. Start load: 44.0 grains (1700 – 1800 ft/p/sec) Maximum load: 49.0 grains (1950 -- 2050 Ft/p/sec). I am not responisble for mishaps of any nature that might occur due to use of this data. 41.0 Grains of 2230C and the Prvi Partizan 285 is THE load in my favorite M46 9.3x57. It will shoot a (big) ragged hole at 100 yds. You can use 2460 instead of the 2230C. Aut vincere aut mori

MJines, You might also want to check out the Swedish Civilian & Sporting Firearms forum over at Gunsboards: http://forums.gunboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=50 There's several serious 9.3x57 fans over there. Also, Norma has some loading data online but they only list Norma powders. http://www.norma.cc/default.asp?Lang=2 Cheers! -Bob F.

Yeah, the gunboards guys do know a thing or two but, you have to get past their holier than thou attitudes.

The Vihta 2002 Europe reloading guide has data on this caliber. If you can't google it down (it should be somewhere on the net still available, don't remember where, Vihta's new 2008 guide does not contain these old calibers anymore), just send me a PM, I'll mail it to you.

Yeah, the gunboards crowd can be a wee bit stuffy but a guy over there by the name of LeeSpeed I believe seems a decent enough guy and has done a ton of load development for the 9.3x57. It really is a fantastic cartridge and if you have one built on a 98 action it wouldn't lag far behind the 9.3x62 with carefully crafted handloads. But, I prefer to run it at the pressures it was originally intended for. Aut vincere aut mori

about 38,000 cup. I believe Norma factory loads run about that while their load data runs about 40K. A 286 grain bullets at near 2100 fps will put quite a hurt on the animals yet not trash your shoulder. I like to plink with mine. Aut vincere aut mori
