I'm building one in a argentine mauser 1909 and a Lothar Walther barrel of 26 inches. What velocity I will be able to obtain with 250, 270 and 286 grains bullets? I know that several relaoding data have been post in the past, but none from a 26" barrel. I've some IMR 4895 powder. Thanks LG [ 07-01-2002, 20:49: Message edited by: Lorenzo ]

Lorenzo. There are probably a zillion people that can answer you more correct than I, but this is what I came up with after a quick look in some of my books. 250 grs bullet ->770m/s 270 grs bullet ->740m/s 286 grs bullet ->720m/s I believe these figures are safe, but for the record I don't own a rifle in this caliber, so I can't be sure. Lorenzo, I load my 9.3x62 very hot in a Mark X Mauser 98. I use H4895 which is suppose to be very similar to IMR4895. I believe this is an outstanding choice for this round. I will not tell you what my max is because it is hot. However, my loads for the following weight bullets by manufacturer indicated is as follows: 250BT Nosler=2600 270 Speer SP=2500 286Partition=2400 I believe you can work up to these levels safely in a M98. This is too hot for Swedish 96's. Hope this helps. Ku-dude

With 58 or 59 grs. of RL-15 I get 2520 FPS in my 26" barrel with a 286 gr. Nosler...that long barrel will make a world of difference in a 9.3x62. The Barnes manual gives 2512 FPS with a 286 gr. bullet and a healthy dose of H-414... I get 2400 plus with a 320 gr. Woodleigh and RL-15.
