I just looked at a Sako mannlicher with an 18.5" bbl in 30.06 that a fellow has for sale. He wants $500 for it but I don't know much about this rifle. It seems to be one of the newer pushfeed types and seems to be in 90-95% condition. Can anyone help enlighten me?

The value depends on which model it is (on the left side of the receiver), but they are all worth over $500.

All Sakos are pushfeed (except for the early models built on an FN Mauser action).

The oldest .30-06 would be on an L 61R action. These were made with mainly 20.5" barrels, and a small number with 24.4" barrels. Those made prior to 1972 are called "pre-Garcia" and usually bring a premium.

The next newer in the series would be the A III or A V, and I think maybe these did have 18.5" barrels.

Newer still is the L 691.

After that, Sako switched to a three-lug bolt called the Model 75.

As the previous poster suggested, in reasonably good condition, any are worth at least $500.

I had one in 7-08 that I sold a few years ago for $750 in mint cond. If you like it, $500 is a great price.
