It has probably been done, but I imagine it would be like comparing the 300 or 7mm wsm/saum. The SAUM is going to have a little less powder and less FPS

It might be woth taking a look at published velocities in the 300 Saum vs the 300 WSM and then interpolate from the velocity differences between the 270 WSm and the 300 WSM.
Just a thought.

I have a 270wsm and have thought about going 6.5wsm, as prem 270 bullets are somewhat limited. I have decided after checking into it, not worth it. Go with the 6.5 or the 7mm for saum or better yet 7mm/300wsm, it's a 300 wsm necked down to 7mm, different shoulder location than 7mm wsm. I think they hurt the 7 wsm changing it so it wouldn't chamber in 270wsm. RC

That's odd, I've never had a problem finding premium .270 bullets. Let's see, Nosler Partition and Accubond, Swift Scirocco, Barnes, Trophy Bonded, Winchester Fail Safe. What difficulties???

I think "premium" means benchrest/target bullets not hunting bullets. There are endless number of match bullets for 6.5 calibers compared to almost all other calibers.
Unless you want to consolidate bullets to a single caliber I don't see why you would go through all that trouble for so little of a change from a 7saum. The old 270 Win vs 280 Rem argument.
Now, a 25saum I can see. That is what Remington should have brought out a few years ago since there are reports of the WSM version having pressure problems and overbore. A 100 grain TSX travelling around 3500fps would almost match the 257 Weatherby in a short action.
