Traveling Luggage for Blaser R93?

I am about to order my first Blaser R93. I need to get a piece of traveling luggage for carrying the rifle taken down with 2 barrels. This will be mainly for travel by car within Texas with perhaps an occasional domestic airline flight to another state.

Blaser sells a luggage style case that seems to be just the thing for this. Is this my best option, or is there another better case for the same cost or as good a case for less cost - i.e. better value than the Blaser case?

Jack, I really like the "plastic" Blaser cases for use in the car, but I would not take them in a plane. Not even in the bottom of one of those rolling duffels with the guncase compartment on the bottom.

Tale a look at the Americases made for the Blasers, they would work in the bottom of a duffel.

The Take down Pelican case is good as well.

However I use a take down Tuff Pak, or a regular Tuff Pak when flying. A Blaser stock and barrel will fit in a Boyt take down shotgun case of medium size.

Cases like this are good to pack your gun around,

By coachsells at 2009-05-20

but if your are going to fly with it go get a Pelican 1720
http://www.pelican.com/cases_detail.php?Case=1720

Then go to a foam company and have them cut out custom holes how you want them set up. Thats what I did.

There is a guy over on Blaserbuds.com that is putting together an order on Americases at 20% off retail and really reasonable shipping.

I bought one on the last order and am very happy with mine.

The Amerilite model 5050 by Americase, for the Blaser Holds a frame and three scoped barrels. I have two of those. They are a very classy outfit with the Blaser logo inside the case.

I have that same case. It is very nice. It has places for all the extra magazines, bolt heads and tools.

Amerilite model 5050

Thanks Ron,

I didn't know about BlaserBuds and the BlaserPro forum is blocked where I work (Saudi). I'll try to get in on that buy for a 5050 for traveling by car with one rifle. In a few years I plan to get a second R93 to have a spare for important out of state or international hunts by airline. Would a Americase AT-B23 be good for that?

I agree about the Blaser case being better suited for transport by car. Here's my travel kit with scoped bbls. in .300 Win and 9,3x62.

Have any of you traveled by airline with the heavier duty Americases (not the Ameri-lite 5050)? How did it and the guns within weather the expeience? How do you like these cases in general (AT-B11, AT-B12, AT-B13, AT-B14, AT-B22, and AT-B23 AlumaTrans cases)?

I agree that the Blaser plastic cases are better for car travel than they are for travel by air.

Although I must say that I have flown with mine - once - and it made the trip with no problems. But aluminum is much stronger, more rigid and just generally better, IMHO.

A problem with the plastic cases (or at least the early ones, as I don't know about current production) is that they will not accommodate the longer, magnum chambered Blaser barrels.

I have taken my Blasers all over the world in an aluminum case that I laid out and that Americase built for me several years ago.

It accommodates two complete scoped rifles.

I will try to find a photo of it and will post it if I can.
