I have a line in a cheap 650 Montana 1999 SS new in box Action with bottom metal.


I would like to start putting pieces away for 358 STA. Problem it has a 30/06 bolt face.

Can the bolt face be opened up with no concern to the magnum bolt face?

Is the magazine the correct length? IIRC the .358 STA is a full length Mangum case.

Magazine and action are long enough for 3.6 COAL. The 358 STA is a 2.85 inch, nominally, case.

Yes opening up bolt faces is de rigeur and routine, and anyone can do it. I mean anyone who can install the barrel, can also do that.
