okay 9.3x62mm fans tell me about this cartridge...

I have the chance to buy a CZ mannlicher stocked 9.3x62mm rifle. It seems to point right, and is a very nicely appointed rifle. Anybody own one, and have any thoughts about accuracy and power to share?

I´m not crazy about full stocked rifles but if you like it then that issue is settled.

The 9.3x62 is very versatile, low recoil and I´ve hunted with mine in Namibia, SA and in Finland. Things seem to die well when shot with a 9.3x62.

The largest game taken -so far- was a nice bull eland (frontal shot and died on the spot), the smallest was a crow...

I say it sounds like you want the gun. I can speak only from a position of research. It is known as a good killer of large game and even Cape Buffalo. It is said to not kick too much. It is in my future to own one of those FS CZs. I have two Sako FS guns. I own a 243 and 308. I like the fullstock as I'm of lesser height. Maybe the ninth dwarf! They carry and point sooo smooooth. I "could" live my hunting life with a 243 and 9.3X62 for all my needs. Good luck and send us pictures of the gun when you get it. Packy

I had one for awhile, but had a nice mauser custom built and sold it. It's a lot'a rifle for the money and you could do a lot worse. Personally I didn't care for the plastic follower, but I hear CZ USA will replace that if you complain about it. A nice upgrade would be a Winchester style 3 position safety and that would be about all I would need to do with it.

On the 62 or 64 deal I would opt for the 62 just because 62 componants are easy to get and inexpensive. Also the 62 has just enough recoil without being excessive (for me Wink).

Thanks to all, I think! Especially to Mr BFaucett...the enclosed data made the decision easy. I have been looking for a mannlicher since my 13 year old niece "borrowed" my nice little Ruger fullstock in 243 for her deer hunt and bagged a very nice (especially for a first one) muley buck. I am not crass enough to expect the rifle back...Christmas IS coming. I had planned to bore the barrel to 358 and rechamber in 358 Win...this will be even better.

I will be headed east 23 miles to pick up the rifle in about an hour. Called the store to make sure it would be ready to go. They are "throwing in" two boxes of ammunition. This one does have the steel floorplate, and two crossbolts.

Thanks again to all for the sound advice. This will be my third CZ.

this rifle is sooooo accurate, it's a little spooky. The shop put my 45X Leupold scope on and boresighted it.
43-degrees out, but calm and pretty sunny. About one minute apart it put nine shots in an inch-two-eight. That's 1.28" at 100 yards with a brand new barrel. Yes, 45X! I use it a lot to accuracy test, and it really does save a lot of time on target. Someone PM'ed me to check Grafs for dies and brass, bullets, and shellholder. Thanks to you, as well Don.

Sharpshooter,

You got a sweetie! Congratulations on a great acquisition. The 9,3x62 is a wonderful caliber.

Mine has taken deer, pigs, impala, warthog, wildebeast, kudu and zebra. All but the kudu fell to a single shot ... and he hadn't read "The Perfect Shot." No recovered projectiles.

Will be one of the last rifles I part with!
