265 RCBS is good design but die are real custom die , AI with 40 is more popular AI in 6.5/06 is a very powerfull cartridge and close to the 264 Win is youshoot in a barrel over 26 inch to be allow to burn all the powder ( same problem in 264 Win ) regular 6.5/06 neck is 0.300 that allow you to shoot thick neck case But I prefer neck in 0.297 wit a light neck turning and make the 6.5/06 from 270 WIN and trim to 06 lenght AI design with sharp 40 shoulder is no the best for smooth feeding so check youraction first . for me the best imp design is the Williams design with 30 that allow you to stop the case lengtening after firing and the need to trim too often ( the main problem of th 6.5/06) and 30 shoulder make prefect feeding , RCBS had list the william in the custom but ow I don t know , I prefer REDDING quality . good shooting DAN TEC

Tell me about the 6.5/280 Rem? If it is just a necked down 280Rem, you would still have a shallow neck angle, but the shoulder would be moved back, so you would have less capacity. Like many, I am in search of the perfect 6.5mm cartridge. The 6.5/06 is fine (and is still most likely what I will choose), but I am curious about some others. I want it to be somewhat practical, which is why I am am looking at cartridges based on the '06 case. Much of the reading I have done lately suggests that sharper shoulder angles are more efficient. The standard '06 is pretty shallow. Many claim that 35 degrees is optimum, although most of that talk centers around all these new short magnums. If I wanted something not based on the '06, I would probably go for the 6.5/284. The brass is more expensive, although now you can get factory ammo for it (6.5-284 Norma).
