That is a steel, I will have to hate you for an hour or 2. I have an ultra light in .257 roberts. I would guess that babye will have a bit of a muzzle flash. ...tj3006 freedom1st

Sounds to me as if you got a free rifle. That scope alone sells used for that around here. I hope you got it from someone you know not to be a thief. If not, I hope no one ever runs the SN though NCIC. You might not end up in any real trouble, but you might potentially have a bunch of explaining to do. Got it from one of my wifes girlfriends, her husband passed 3 years ago, she was selling all of his guns. I ended up getting a Marlin 336 in 35 Rem, a Ithaca 12 gauge auto, the Ruger M77 in .270, a 7 1/2" Ruger SRH 44 mag. with a Leopold M-8, a S+W J- frame 3", and a S+W K-frame 4". Total for all 6 Guns $850. Already sold off the Marlin, the 4" K-frame and the Shotgun. Wow it's hard to sleep at night. P.S. She called me and offered them at those prices,

You should send that lady a little more money, really in all fairness to a friend of your wife. Kharma will come back and bite your ass for stuff like this. She obviously didn't know shit when she asked for $850 for all those guns you should be more forthright and giving to a friend and widow, the old man is doing flips in his grave I'm sure.

X2 I once had an oportunity to buy a beautiful Parker double from a resent widow lady for $35.00. This was in 1957. I let her know that the minimum she should take was $200.00. I can honestly say that I've never taken advantage of a resent brother's death by screwing the widow out of just deserts. roger Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! I agree completely, Roger. If I am walking behind a person in the grocery store parking lot and see a $50 bill fall out of their clothing to the ground, do I run up , put my foot over it, and stand around waiting to see if they come back looking for it? Do I grab it and run the other way? Hell no!. I pick it up, run after them, and say, "Excuse me, but I think you dropped this..." Any person who intentionally takes great advantage of another, when he or she knows better, is one to be viewed with sorrow, not admiration or envy. Even the sharpest local gun dealer I know, who buys many, many things at estate sales every month, if it applies will always tell widows and all others...."That price is acceptable to me, but honestly, it is too low. I'll buy the stuff, but here is how I value each item." Many times I have seen him give double or more what was being asked, so long as he could still make 10% to 20% on reselling the item at his business. He says in the long run, it pays off...he's always having people come in to ask him to look at estate sales held for members of their families...they know he is honest. A good word-of-mouth reputation is the cheapest advertising one can buy. Repeat business is what keeps the doors open in the long run. Screw the customer, and don't expect lots of repeat business. (A lesson many American and International corporations need to be taught....) My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.

I told her they were worth alot more, She just wanted them out of the house and didn't want to talk to a bunch of people. She was well aware of thier value.

That doesn't mean she would not have accepted more money, does it? Like something at least approaching a fair value?
