ACTUALLY, thinking of maybe going the other way.
I was brwsing Midway and I can get a chambered bl for the Savage for $125 to go on my kick around Model 110. With the Savage system all it takes is a bbl wrench and a headspace gauge and you are pretty well set.

Have to give it more thought after get back from the 'boo trip.

Well I just got my 358 bolt action a few days ago and shot it for the first time yesterday. MRC action in a Serengeti stock w/ Leupold .
The first 100 yd, group was shot using 200gr. Speer FN, (three shot group then a 3 click scope adjustment) Next group was with 200gr. Hornady RN. 7 shots (load & fire)
The picture represents the first 15 rounds put through the rifle. The first 4 were 200gr. factory loads that helped put the rifle on paper but were hated by the rifle.
This is going to be one sweet Michigan deer rifle. .

I think the 358 and 350 mag and the 8mag when they were first introduced they suffered becuase inadequate factory ammo mainly bullets available at the time everyine knows bullets they had back then weren't the best. I Know of one guy who used a 358 with factory ammo who lost a deer and he cusses that round to this day so I imagine there are a lot more people out there. But with today's premium reloading bullets that are available I don't think they would have this problem. If CZ or who ever chambers a 358 winchester IMO they should put at a minimum a 23 inch barrel with open sights and if they chamber a 350 mag put it on a std length action with a minimum of a 23 inch barrel a 24 would be even better with open sights. Factory ammo they should load a good 225 gr. bullet this would be good deer and elk medicine.

The BLR may not be the purdeyist rifle what's done been made, but they shore is accerett! My BPR .358 was a 1 MOA rifle using Speer 250-grain bullets and 51.5 grains of WW 748. (2420 FPS @ 10' from the muzzle.)

WINCHESTER was loading 2 loads for it at one time, a 200 and 250 gr both silvertips.
THey discontinued the 250s which was the big mistake for this caliber.
You can buy 200gr loads for everything. in a 30 cal, so there was nothing special about a 200gr .358.
THe 250gr Winchester load was an awesome performer.

It is overlooked becasue it just doesn't look like a "magnum" burner and you can't shoot it at elephant at 800yds and complete penetration. BUT, at anything under 250yds, there isn't anything in NA a good 250gr load won't handle and I wouldn't hesitate on any bear at under 100.

IF Win brought back the 250 Silvertip I would buy a couple of cases just to hedge against the next time they give up on the load.
OTherwise I will keep running the 250Speer bullets that shoot through everything and punches nice holes with the BLR.
