Hi all i recently came into possession of a Mauser sporting rifle, double triggers schabel forend express sights a nice old rifle with a smooth action that needs some TLC,what i need is help in identitying the model, how old and maybe what it's worth. There is no model designation or caliber markings, just a couple of crowns and 4 letters, you can see by the pics that will be posted in a day or two.A buddy is posting them for me.Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance.

it looks like a typical (cigarette mauser) definetly looks like a lot of rifle and most are made very well would be expensive to duplicate by todays gunsmiths some are 318. bore and others are 323. bore ive had a few that look close to what you pictured they sell anywhere from 300-900 they are mostly made from military mauser actions of large and small ring do not confuse this with an original mauser sporter from the oberndorf factory ............paul

Can't see it, but I'd guess it has the stepped barrel too, no? Also absent is the classic lever release on the floor plate. I'd guess this is a classy old guild gun built by a long forgoten smith. Get the head space checked and have the barrel slugged, then if all is well shoot away.

Hi guys thanks for your input very much appreciated.here is a bit more info, the barrel is not stepped just a nice taper from action to muzzle. There is also a schnabel tip,and it looks like it had a sling swivel siver soldered to the barrel, unfortunitly the swivel is missing. The front sight has a brass or gold (LOL) bead on a 3"ramp.i can send pics if you like with your email thanks.
