| He must have that new and improved 30-06 that has no recoil. Either that or he was either drunk or an idiot or even a combination of the two. In my experience with people I have met in Wendover I am voting for the latter. |

| Sounds to me like an attempt at humor. No rifle has any recoil if you can't close the bolt and fire the round. Some days when we're feeling low the fast ones go right over any of us.

| Alberta--I'd believe humor if he came right out at first with the 500 grain bullet, but that was only after I said cast at low velocity. Wouldn't have been brought up otherwise. I'd classify him as drunk AND idiot with idiot being the heavier. I have serious doubts he even knew no such animal as a 500 grain 30-06 bullet. |

| Hey there are a lot of drunks and screw balls in Windover, its the nature of the place! Hmmmm a 500 gr. 30 caliber bullet would be approximately 6 inches long, would have 3 partitions and 3 bonded cores, would take up 99% of the powder space using Bullseye, according to my math. Can you picture that.

| quote: [A] guy at the table told me his 30-06 had no recoil. It was a Winchester. I told him he must be using cast bullets at very low velocity. No, he was using jacketed bullets. 500-grain jacketed bullets, in fact.
Obviously, this encounter illustrates the principle that what is done or said in Vegas should stay in Vegas. |

| A 500 gr .308, would be a good one for the sectional density argument. 0.752
I have shoulder fired a 20mm with no recoil But it shot FIRE in both directions.

| If you have the bolt flying out the other way you dont have any recoil.Dangerous to aim just. |

Did you know him? If not, he might just be tired of running into idiots at gun shows who think they are authorities on all aspects of shooting. (I'm not suggesting you in any way acted or looked like one or are one, just that he couldn't tell your level of shooting knowledge just by looking at you and didn't know you, so.....) So maybe he put his "funny" line on the table to see if you picked it up and ran with it, or if you "called" him on its obvious absurdity. I know I've done that, and you'd be surprised how many mental clowns it uncovers.

| Obviously, he was referring to the new 30-06 proposed by Diane Feinstein and endorsed by the Obama administration. It meets all their criteria: It cannot be fired which reduces gun violence and the rising cost of Obamacare. |

| There was a lunatic walking around the range I shoot at telling shooters to hurry up and get done because the range was going to be closed. The reason, the wind was getting up high enough it could turn a bullet around and send it back to the firing line possibly killing the shooter. This incident caused a considerable amount of puzzlement and consternation on the range. Fortunately the wind died down and the range was not closed. I was accused of being the perpetrator of this but I denied it. I suggested it was probably my evil twin who looks just like me. Suwannee Frank his name is, you have to watch that guy. You never know when he is going to try to amuse himself by cooking up and disseminating some disturbing story.

I've heard of that happening but only with hollow points. A strong headwind will fill the HP cavity and spin the bullet back at you. Just don't use HPs and you should be fine.
