Good Morning All,
can anyone tell me where I might purchase some of the above mentioned ammunition?
I expect it will have to be custom loaded but never having done any reloading, this may be a safer way to go than 'rolling my own'

There seems to always be some available on the gunbroker and auctionarms websites. You can also try Old Western Scrounger.

You might try doing a web search for "Kynoch Ammunition". I know the "old" Kynoch used to provide it, loaded with 247 gr. SN bullets (I think that was the bullet weight...memory is getting shorter by the day).

When I was talking with the new owners of the Kynoch brand name in '98 at the S.H.O.T. show in Vegas, it seemed they were planning on providing darned near everything Kynoch ever loaded by way of sporting ammo.

Won't be cheap, but should be good quality, if they do indeed make it now.

BTW, sounds to me like a really good excuse to get into hand-loading. Loading of usable ammo is easy, and fun! Just load very moderately powered stuff until you learn the game...

I have found a source for old Kynoch ammunition, probably more than I need! I understand that it is Berdan primed but the price is right.
Let me know if you know anyone who needs some.

True about bore diameter....I've even slugged and miked a couple 9X57R bores that turned out to be .354". However, they had "generous" throats that permitted the use of .358" bullets with absolutely no problems. The 9X57R in combination or doubles is certainly NOT a high-pressure round, but the 9X57mm in a good quality Mauser 98 sporter can be loaded as hot as a .358 Win., and close to .35 Whelen. I made cases from WW 8X57 brass for the Mausers, and Norma 7X57R brass for the Drillings.
