Hello there Any here have experience with the 202 ALLOY actions. Your thoughts please? I know the bolt locks up direct into the krupp steel barrel, but how does the action fare in general. Base screw holes, wear, slickness etc. Any problems? This action is stated to save a bit of weight, which is always welcomed! Thanks in advance.

Never heard of any probs so far. The biggest advantage of the alloy action is, that it is available with Weaver style bases cut directly into the action.

I have owned 3 of the Sauer "lightweight" models and love them, but they are light and tend to buck and snort a little. The actions have been as smooth as glass, and I have never had a problem. The only thing I have ever heard about the alloy receivers is that barrel changes should be limited due to the softness of the metal. I used to have them in 270 and 22-250, and I now have one in 243.

I've owned over a half dozen of the lightweight alloy 202s. No problems at all. They save on weight and work like a champ. The basic rifle weighs 6.16#s so they definitely fit the bill of a hunting rifle that you can carry all day and not be worn out from lugging a canon around. The lightweights are coated with llaflon so you don't have to worry about bluing and other wear issues. The llaflon is a hard coating, probably a little tougher than our ceracoat. It can be blasted off but it won't simply wear off. Good stuff...

Here in Norway Sauer's often are used as a competition weapon. Long barrels and heawy stocks. Those guys use the all-steel version, shooting 7-10 000 rounds a year. Never heard any problems regarding the lightweight hunting rifles M
