I am looking for recommended powders for 165gr. 30-06 loads. Am using Lapua brass, Federal Gold Medal match primers. Shilen Select Match 23" barrel. #4 taper. 1X10" twist. Your recommendationd and comments are appreciated. Sam | ||

Reloader 19, Vit160, IMR4350. Load your hunting bullets 0.02 to 0.01 short of the lands; or as long as your magazine will allow if this is too long for the magazine. If none of these powders work within the reloading manuals recommended charge weights; there's probably something wrong with your rifle's bedding or your rifle is one of the very few 30-06's that doesn't like 165 grain bullets. Then try 180 Grainers with RL 22, Vit 165 and H 4831 also 0.02 to 0.01 off the lands. If none of these work either; then it is almost certainly in your action's bedding - Or worse. If I had an 06 with a Shilen barrel that wouldn't shoot one of the above at Sub 0.50; I would have a prayer meeting with the gunsmith. [ 08-09-2003, 05:33: Message edited by: Old & Slow ] | |||
