bought a used armalite ar-10 for my 50th b'day... flattop, 20" bbl... pitcanny rail...a friend had some .308 fmj that i got at a good price, so we ran a clip through it yesterday... needless to say, i'm hooked... but these 50 yr old eyes need some help....as most shots will be in the 50 yd range (or less) and fewer still at 100 (unless something just has to be shot farther), i'm looking for a mil-dot style scope... 6-8 power.... i'm setting a budget of around $300, for the scope and rings...suggestions???... thanks, jim go big or go home ........ Leupold 6 power and then send it to their custom shop and have a mil dot reticle installed... or even consider a 4 power, and have the same thing done, if you are talking that close... many folks would be surprised out how far out there a 4 and 6 power will work... I shoot at a rock at our range at times, that is 725 laser ranged yards out there... I set the scope on 4 or 6 power.. and folks are surprised when I hit it over and over... even at that distance, a 4 or 6 power supply plenty of magnification to see what you are shooting at...
