The X-Bolt has a completely different bolt action, trigger and safety. I own two A-Bolts and am very happy with them. They say the X-Bolt has a no creep trigger. It also has a three way safety, meaning you can work the bolt with the safety on.

The models are limited now, but I believe the medallion is as you stated, the better wood.

I've got A-Bolts in .308 and .338 and have no complaints except the .338 is a little too light and kicks worse than my .375 Ruger.

The .308 has a very light barrel and puts the first 2 shots into the same hole then groups open up to about 1", it weighs about 6.5 lbs with scope.

The .338 puts 5 shots into about 1.5" with me doing the shooting but probably could do better if it wasn't so light and I wasn't anticipating the recoil.

I got a very good look at the X-Bolt today at sportsmans wharehouse in clackamas Oregon.
I tell you what, I was very impressed. The rifle is not my style, but I have to say if I won one in a contest or somthing, I bet it would grow on me fast.
This one was a 7-mag. Wood was very nice with a satin finish, The trigger was about as good as a trigger can get.
The bottom piece is one big chunk of material.
I would call it pot metel.
I don't like the stuff its made of or the wrap around the stock thing.
The detachable mag is all plastic. And again I don't like that, but that does not mean it is not a very good magazine. Its design is good and it probably funtions very well.
The price was 660.00.give or take 15.00.Like I said not my style, but I bet it shoots real well, and if you like the new and different , its probably a great buy.
I hear the trigger on the new model 70, was designed by the same guys.
With a hinged floor plate made of steel !
Not necisarily better but more my style !

I only know one Browning... the 270 White Gold Medallion I have that shoots 1/2" groups with Remington Core-Lockts. The trigger is sweet and the safety is right where safety's should be (ergonomically).
