I tested the 338 cal 200 gr E-Tip in my 338 RUM. Using a COL of 3.620" and 90.5 grs RL 22 yielded a MV of 3111 fps from the M700 LSS 26 inch barrel. Accuracy was well under an inch, I can't give you an exact size because I forgot to take the target down! I recovered two bullets at 100 yds that were shot into water filled milk jugs, both found in jug #6. The first bullet weighed 197.1 grs, expanded to .738" and the second weighed 197.0 grs, expanded to .748".

I've been wondering about the E-tip! It looks like it should be better than the Barnes for accuracy.......it has a nice polymer tip and boat tail. The mushrooms look fantastic!

If you shoot something big, post the results!

Funny, I thought just the opposite...without the TSX's grooves, it's like the discontinued X bullet of old...no grooves for the solid copper to squeeze into. Because of this similarity, I wonder if it copper fouls like the X bullet? Even Saeed lathe cuts grooves into his Walterhog bullets.

My only experiance with them is 30 cal 180 grns.
Dramatic pressure spikes. In my 300 WSM, I went up to 65 grains of IMR 4831, which is 2.5 grains below max. I opened the bolt, looked at the primer and it's gone! Look at the the mag and there it is. A blown primer with less than mid-grade load.

i had the 180 E TIPS pressure tested in an 06 pressure barrel, the pressures were REAL high for the velocity i was getting....they may be okay in the big magnums which have got a large case capacity...also the e tips are very long for cal
i will stick with the nosler partitions

Are you saying that one should continue shooting a high pressure load?
What would that give me? Besides ruining my brass.
I figure once too high of a level is achieved, it's
time to back off and try again.

Thanks, I haven't tried them yet. I'll give them a go.

I have the 338 RUM and have shot those 200gr bullets at 3128 FPS. I use RL25 powder. I would say we are about the same in FPS.

Any plans by Nosler to bring out a 225 grain version?

Now we'd be talking Big Grin

Dave,

My understanding is that they are gilding metal, nevertheless some bearing bands would be an improvement...........

The bullet is made of a new 210 alloy which increases the tensile strength and reduces fouling.

Nosler has told me that they have no intentions of adding groves line the Barnes 3X bullets.

A 338 cal 225 gr E-Tip would be a great bullet for sure. It would penetrate almost into tomorrow.

Doesn't look like they need them!!!

Can't wait to get my hands on some for my 338RUM.

Some 180's would be nice in the 300RUM, as well. thumb

I recovered a 200 gr E-Tip from water jugs at 300 yds. This is one tough bullet! It went through 6 water jugs, and 2 1/2 inch pcs of plywood and was recovered in sand. The bullet weighed 197.1 grs and expanded to .709".
This is one tough bullet!
