I have shot the 150 Partition at 3600+ fps for 5 years and have killed 10-12 deer with the load from 8-475 yards.all fell dead. would you think the 130 XBT at around 3850 would hold up on the killing end as well?it would give me 50 more yards of point blank range.the energy figures are almost identical to 700 yards. the thought of being able to hold where I want to hit at 400 yards has me thinking about trying it. point blank in a 7 inch kill zone with the 150 is 370 yards.the 130 is 410.

If you"re accuracy is good with the 150-why change?? The XBT might not be as accurate cause some guns won"t shoot them very accurate at all.

Quote: Sounds like quite the flat trajectory either way. Just wondering; do you factor group size into your MPBR calculation? Good hunting!

the actual kil zone on a deer is 10 inches so I use 7 to account for the size of the group. the gun shoots 2 inch groups at its 325 yard zero.so at 370 if the center of the group is 3.5 low the lowest shot shouldnt be any lower than 5 inches.

You're going the wrong way. First, if you're going to be shooting deer in the 400 yd range, you need a rangefinder. Then PBR is completely meaningless. Learn to click your scope. Once that's accomplished, all that matters is accuracy. Light bullets are a poor choice. A little breeze that a 200 AccuBond or similar will hardly notice will blow a 130 XBT completely off target. Try heavier more accurate bullets. You'll be pleased with the results.

I got a Nikon 800 lazer and an Oehler Balistic Program.according to the Oehler the 130 at 3900 is 8 inches flatter at 500 than the 180 SGK at 3350 but the 180 is almost an inch better in the wind. I never had any trouble with the 150 Nosler, just looking to play with something different.
