There doesn't seem to be too much info floating around about it yet, but they do make some pretty interesting velocity claims. From another forum this poster got some pretty good numbers in 22-250.

Thanks for the reply. There seems not to be much interest. I have some coming. Will post after I get some experience with it. AIU

I hope to get some this week. The numbers for my 25 WSSM look pretty impressive.

Higher velocity and less pressure....what's not to like.

Please post your findings.

Hornadys factory loaded 30-06 goes 2940 with the long 165 GMX at only 58K pressure. I'd like to load that with a TTSX or E-Tip, not a real fan of the GMX. Since Hornady doesn't show any -06 load data I'm wondering if they are using a different, unreleased fomulation there.

The Hornady 8th has 30-06 Superformance data, but it's not impressive in the least, max 165gr load runs 2700fps, there are several other powders listed than run 2900fps, H414, IMR4350, N160 and IMR4831.

2700 huh? Sounds like that's with the shorter 165s too. Yeah that won't hunt. Definately the wrong blend for the -06.

Thanks.

Big foot,
I have been toying with trying the GMX. Thought it might be a great all around choice in a 270 or 7mm Mag. Just out of curiosity, why do not like it?

I have been using Vihtavouri N550 & N560 for a few years.

I can normally get about 100fps more MV W/O increased pressure compared to regular (IMR 4064/4350, RL19/22, etc), powder loads in a given caliber.

I have used Vv N550 for 2700+ fps W/a 200gr .323 Nosler Partition in an 8X57 W/a 23 1/8" barrel.

I have also equaled Hornady's "Light Magnum" performance (as measured over a Chronagraph) in a 22" bareled 7mm-08 using the same Vv N550 behind 140gr Nosler BTs.

Vv N560 works in slightly larger capacity cases such as 280, 8mm/06 A.I. etc.

IMO the "Super Performance" powders have nothing on the Vv N5XX series powders.

Check out the velocity needed for good expansion.

I see. What is the floor of expansion for the E-tip and TTSX? Maybe 100-200 fps. slower I'm thinking? I guess I would have to look at what range velocity gets to that level (2000fps).

The E-Tip isn't much better. Nosler shows the expansion on it's site.

I couldn't find Barnes tests but this fella tested the TTSX against the GMX and the TTSX opens much better at low velocity.

Makes sense. Copper is softer than gilded metal. If I was going to shoot mono metal, I would go with Barnes for the simple fact that I use moderate velocity cartridges and 2000 FPS is a 300 yard shot to me.

In the general field of 'superperformance' powder, one should remember the fairly new R-17. It claims approx. 100+fps. I've used it with good accuracy in 270 Win, 338WM, and 416 Rigby. It is slightly denser than some powders in the 4350/4831 genre, so that one can at least get full loads into the cases with medium weight bullets.

However, it is difficult to say how much velocity increase has been observed. Temperatures have varied, rifles have varied, and numbers of shots have sometimes been small, so I can't say how much of the advertisements are true. At least the powder isn't slower, seems stable, and accurate.

I tried R-17 in my 338-06 using the same data as for H4350 and increase my 250gr bullets by 100fps and shrunk the groups to MOA. That is the best this gun has ever done.
