I've got a Remington 700 LVSF on order in 7MM-08. Going to set it up to hunt whitetails in Northern Idaho. I'm going to put a Leupold 6x36 with talley lightweights on it. I was just wondering if anybody has any opinions on this rifle/setup good or bad. Anybody used this rifle in a hunting application? Also curious about favorite loads. Thanks in advance for any input.

I dont know much about the rifle. However as for loads, I would definitely try Ramshot Big game with a max charge behind a speer 145 gr hot core. My rifle loves this combo with the bullet seated about 12 thousandths off the lands. A friend of mine uses ramshot behind a sierra 140 bt seated to about 6 thousandths off the lands. both of us get better than alf in groups and the velocity is a little better than 2800 fps. It doenst foul the bore bad compared to any other ball powder. As a matter of fact is is on par with H4350. I have really gotten a liking to ramshot powders for many too many reasons to list in one post. Plus the powder is cheap!!

I have seen some decent groups with IMR 4895 & IMR 4064.
