I finally went to visit my brother and try Montana deer hunting. I didnt bring a gun and had to borrow one from him. And what a great gun. Its a C.Sharps Highwall in 30/40 Krag, 20 in. octagon barrel and buckhorn sights. I was a bit sceptical at first but soon loved the gun. 180 gn. roundnose interlocks at around 2400 fps worked very well on deer. The picture is the smallest deer we got (none were big) but the best picture of the gun.

Sweet rifle. I'm currently saving for a nice Lightweight, custom 'Ballard'. Somthing about those high walls!

. Cool rifle. I just picked up something similar. It is also in 30/40 Krag. Winchester 1885 Trapper model. I put a Weaver K2.5-1 on it. Easy MOA accuracy and it has plenty of punch. I'm going to use it on an exotic hunt this January. dxr Happiness is a tight group

I like those old single shots. I would love to get a winchester 1885 in 38/55 or a similar round. One in 25/35 would be really cool, with a tang mounted peep. ...tj3006 freedom1st

The MV of the Interlocks were 2530 fps from 47 gn H380. Thats a 308 Win load and velocity. Quite impressive from a 20 inch barrel considering that the 30-40 Krag has a bit more case capacity.
