To me the mediums start at 338 and run up to 40. I think 375 belongs in this category, and certainly not a step up.

I have a good bit of experience with 338 and 358. Not nearly as much with 9.3 or .366. I don't do 375 as it is just a bit too "common" for me. I hear so many great things about 9.3 that I have to see for myself, and I happened to be in need of a caliber, a medium, that would go with my B&M bigger bores, but still have cartridges fit in the magazine. 358 Bullets were too long for my WSM actions and the B&M case. So .366 looked like a good option for me. And I was correct.

However, before the B&M I started playing with a 9.3X338 Winchester and have been pleased with the two rifles I built. Later a 9.3 Ultra, and sorta lost interest in it. Currently I am working on load data for the B&M cartridge and it is looking very good so far.

Recently on another 9.3 thread I read where someone stated "What will a 9.3 do that a 375 Won't?" Sure, in some African countries 375 is legal minimum for DG, 9.3 is not, at least across the board. However I don't choose medium bores to hunt dangerous game, and I include 375 as medium. I see mediums being great for the largest of antelope, moose, elk, even the bears. Hunting buffalo or other sorts of DG a medium is not my choice. So I ask this, "What will a 375 do that a 9.3 Cannot?" Or for that matter a 358? Nothing that I can think of!

Michael, i also have been enamored by the 9.3 and have been contemplating a 9.3 in 338 or ultra mag cases. Of the two which one would you recommend? I am taking my 9.3X62 on a 10 day Moose hunt and looking forward to downing one. If he is any closer than 250 he will be food. My CZ is one of the most accurate and consistant rifles i have. Love those 9.3's

For me if choosing between the Big Ultra case and the 338 Win for a 9.3 I think I would go with the 9.3X338. It will do about anything asked of 9.3 I think. The big Ultra has lot's of horsepower for sure, but the gun is longer and heavier too. Got to have 24 inches of barrel to get the good out of the Ultra----I think you can do well with 22 inches in the 9.3X338. I have in no way come close to maxing the 9.3X338. It is easy to do 2650 with 250s and 2550 with 286s. Not even pushing things. Kabluey has done a lot of work with his 9.3X338 and would have nothing but good to say about it.

I am tied to my little 9.3 B&M to go with my other rifles in the B&M series. But it is plenty enough even at this point, 2650-2700 with 250s, and I think I can push 2550 with the 286s without issue.

I have the most experience with 358 caliber, and if 9.3 does as well as 358 then it's gotta be a good medium caliber. I suspect it is!

Thanks! They all shoot far better than I can too!

I see what I mean when I started this thread!

What I mean is that 9.3 must be rather popular!

On the first page of this forum "Mediums" there are currently 4 different threads on various 9.3s. My 9.3 B&M thread has dropped to the second page currently.

Nice rifles Michael, I continue to hear nothing but positive remarks on the 9.3, and will soon join the brotherhood of no fleas, Waidmannsheil, Dom.
