I am planning my retirement battery. I plan eventually to have 2 stocks/frames and 5 barrels - std barrels in .22LR, .270, & .30-06, a semi-wt .338WM and either a semi-wt or safari wt .375H&H.

Both stocks will be "Professionals". I am trying to decide whether to make both stocks the semi-wt/safari or one std and one semi-wt/safari.

I will probably be ordering the first, a .270 with the .22LR kit, in the next 10 days. So I need to figure out which stock to order it with pretty quick.

I am hoping someone here can either post or e-mail me picks of a synthetic R93 semi-wt stock with a std wt barrel in it.

Also, if anyone has done this and can relate the pros and cons.

I would go with 2 Safari stocks.

One of my Safari stocks is fitted with a bipod.

I use my standard 223 bbl in it all the time.

The gap is a little bigger than a regular stock, but if you did not know the difference you probably would not notice it.

NE 450 No2, that surprises me, since I would have thought the gap would be a problem - both in terms of appearance and as a catch-all for twigs, grass, etc. in the bush.

I would also appreciate seeing a photo if you (or anyone else) can post one.

None of my R93 receivers is the safari style.

B-J,

I'd go the exact opposite option. If I was to purchase two R93 stocks one would be wood the other a Professional and I'd go with straight standard weight barrels on the cartridges you've decided on.

While I don't have any photos; there is a considerable "gap" when the sythetic barrel channel is gouged opened up by the factory. The wide forearm channel is cleanly cut and professionally done on the several I've looked at although the sides of the forearm on the OffRoads is pretty thin when opened-up.

A buddy has a OffRoad opened up with a 6PPC heavy fluted barrel which the is the same size barrel (and channel) as the Safari barrels.

O.K.; I'll admit I only have one stock; an OffRoad but am seriously considering upgrading to the Professional with both L/H & R/H Palm Swells when my hunting budget allows. Not than I'm that displeased with the OffRoad stock; simply that I've small(ish) hands and the pistol grip is thicker and more closed on the Professional plus the (minor, to me) slippery, griping issues with gloves & wet conditions on the OffRoad stock.

My .375H&H is a standard weight (Magna-Ported) and I've been more than pleased with it - super accurate, lightweight for carrying and fits perfect with my other 4 (.222 Rem., .223 Rem., .243 Win. & .30/06 Sprg. Attaché) standard weigtht barrels without the additional hassle of either changing wooden forearms or having an opened-up synthetic forearm, too.

Just color me; well.....simple.

Cheers,

Wow acute "Blaserphrenia".
I usually see it on

or

Sound like a great dilemma to have.
Buy both that is the only cure.

Regards,
Bob.
