I have an all weather version ruger 77 mkii in 7mm RM. It has one of the earlier synthetic stocks on it and I am thinking about replacing it with something a little more durable. Right now I am leaning towards an hs precision stock. Anybody out there have experience with their sporter stocks?

Have you considered Accurarate Innovations? They have a full aluminum bedding in wood and laminate.
I have two and am very happy with them.

I have had a HS Precision stock on a M700 for about 10 years. I'm no expert on synthetic stocks but for me it handles well, is good under recoil (due to comb design) and also has full length aluminium bedding block.

Molar, I have 2 HS stocks, Both on M700 300 RUM's. One is the Sendero and the other is a standard sporter. I like them both and have ordered another for a Mod70 338WM SuperGrade that I want to save the wood stock from getting all marked up as they usually do from use.

I'm very fond of the way my 4 H.S stocks handle and perform, no complaints. Jay

I have an HS Precision stock on my Win M70 300 Mag and have used it quite a lot in all types of hunting in Alaska and on my African Safari without a problem. Things I don't like, its a little heavier than I would prefer and seems to be a little thick in the wrist. I also wish they had a few different styles to choose from. Despite that, it has served me well.

I have two H-S Precision stocks on M700s. No complaints. Mine have their pads rounded at the heel and a third swivel for Ching Slings. I'll happily buy another the next time I have a bolt gun (for which one is made) that needs a day-in day-out accurate, weather-proof, and strong-like-anvil stock.

Molar 1, I've got an all weather Ruger 77 in .338. I bought a H.S. Precision stock for it at Sportsman's Whse. I took it home and when I put it on, the safety was binding on the stock. I was told by H.S. Precision to send it back to the factory. Twenty bucks later I get a different stock and it fits even worse. The barreled action was rocking in the stock. There was about a half inch gap in the barrel channel. H.S. Precision told me this was "normal" and the barrel was supposed to float. I understood all that but a half inch? They told me to take it back to Sportsman's Whse and they would give me my money back. The real problem was the "nubbin" on the bottom of the action that holds the magazine box in place was contacting part of the aluminum bedding block. There was no recess for it. I simple notch made with a file or dremel tool would have been an easy fix but the manager at Sportsman's agreed with me that it would void the warranty. H.S. Precision didn't seem to want to hear any of this. For Remingtons and Winchesters, Great. I would be careful getting one for a Ruger 77. If possible, take your barreled action with you and try before you buy. It might save you some postage anyway. Good luck.... bshooter
