I have had one for about 2 years. There is a lot I like about it. The clips are plastic and do not rust. That is a huge improvement over the A Bolt. Putting the clip in the gun is much easier.

I love the feel of the gun. I believe that I am much less likely to drop the X Bolt with wet hands. It shoots well. However, I personally think I shot my old A Bolt better. I can only recall one miss and that at a running target at long range.

I have killed probably at least 10 white tails, a SE ibex in Spain, a Ronda ibex in Spain, some hogs and the odd varmit here and there.

Go for it.

Solid rifle, usually very accurate, and fairly reasonable in price. Trigger is better than the old school A-bolt, but still leave a lot to be desired compared to a tuned up Remmy, or Win., not to mention a Timney, Jewell etc. etc. for those rifle platforms.

The reason Browning bolt guns aren't so popular a lot of places is because they are not easy to work on--rebarreling is a PITA often, and the triggers don't have a lot of replacement options. If you haven't pulled the trigger yet--pun intended--look hard at the new mfg Winchesters--very good stuff, and share caliber ranges with the Browning rifles.

I like my Browning A-bolt, and like the X-bolt, I like the mag system--the X-bolt system is a little easier IMO as well. I would not vote against the X-bolt, but I would definitely fondle one of the new Winnies before I bought one.

I do not own the new x bolt but have looked at them. The only complaint is the bolt, I do not like the sping loaded feel. I would much rather have a m70CRF or ICON for the same money and they both offer 24" over 22" barrels which is also important to me.
