Does anyone use Tac or other Ramshot powders in this round. I'm looking for some data.

Thanks

Just tried some TAC in my Rem 673 this weekend. Per the Barnes website, 58.0-64.0 gr. w/ 200gr. TSX (2726fps - 2943fps). Mind you, I'm not shooting a TSX.

Remington 673, 22" bbl.

Hornady 200gr. IL, seated to the cannelure, 2.800"
60.0 TAC: 2691, 2702, 2717 fps.
62.0 TAC: chrono malfunction. (Guessing 2800fps)
64.0 TAC: Warm load. Primer pockets showing slightly smoked. Slightly sticky bolt.

PS: Temperature, 96 degrees on the range.

So, 62.0 is where I'm stopping. Recoil was definitely snappy. Accuracy was good enough to make me want to reshoot. 1.5" @ 100 yards off an unsteady rest w/ 62.0gr. Strangely, shot 4" left of point of aim. 60.0 - 64.0 shot same Point of Impact, so at least it's consistent. Shot about a 3" group with 15 total rounds (5 each of 60-62-64).

So, there you have it. I hadn't quite settled on a particular powder for the .350, but TAC may be worthwhile. I think I had my best accuracy with 4064, but that was off a seriously packed sandbag rest and the rifle was extremely stable.

Regards,

Robert

I have an unopened eight pound container of TAC that I would make someone in my area a good deal on if we can figure out a way to get it to you.

It's a small ball powder with a burn rate similar to IMR 4895. Can't say if it's temperature insenstive though.

There's also load data for it for the .375 H&H (!). I tried it but didn't really like the results. Low velocities (2250 w/ 300gr. bullet) and it just didn't "feel right". No pressrue signs but a gut feel said to stick with H4350 or 4831.

PS: I do LOVE it in my .223 / 50gr. Midsouth Varmint Extreme loads. 1/2MOA accuracy...velocity at around 3k - kinda slow but usable.

Robert

Haven't tried any Ramshot powders in the 350RM.
My preference is IMR4895/4320 in the 350's.
