333_OKH7.62x53R/54R "Improved"
http://forums.accuratereloadin...811088012#3811088012I posted that in Wildcats...just wondering? I know there is not much interest due to it being chambered in cheap old ugly MOSIN rifles that still are flawlessly functional.
I have one in a single shot H&R and another being finalized in a falling block....wondering if there is an IMP chamber reamer somewhere....or if I should just sport the extra for one?

Bill LeeperMight be interesting in a falling block. I think the H&R is too stretchy. A P14 would be good. Case capacity would have to be pretty close to a 30/06 AI depending upon where the shoulder was located.
Quite frankly, I would just stick with the standard 7.63x53. In a strong action, it will do 2750 with 180's quite easily. Regards, Bill.

igorrockI have read that some people here in Finland have made .338x53R with shorter neck and "ackley" shoulders. If I remember correct it was quite a boomer.
IMO Mosin is not always so uggly.....

Bill LeeperThat is a nice looking Mosin but man, that scope is way up there!

jeffeossohigh speed paint stripper? i burnt the paint on a truck, when i was a tad younger, by laying my jacket on the hood and the muzzle just off the hood... got the critter, and WHACKED in the head by the old man ... i think he smacked me about every time he saw the "blemish" ... until i sanded the hood and rattlecanned with primer

333_OKHI was looking it all over...with heavier bullets the 7.62x54R outperforms the 308 with 180 plus grain slugs sort of a rimmed 30'06.
Not much sense in 'improving'

That's what I thought to.
When we were using cruisers for training I always tape card board onto the hoods so not to take the paint off them.
