9.3X74R in a #1 Ruger.
I was looking at one of these today.
It seems a prety cool combination. I would have to spend a chunk of dough for brass, But with bullets from 250 to god knows how big, and in a tough sturdy action like a #1 I would think it would be a prety potent round.
I like the configuration of this particular #1, it is the tripical model.
The manuals don't get much velocity from the this old round and as long is its been around its probably good that they don,t. But i bet with say a 250 grain barnes or nosler acubond I should be able to get 25 to 2600 FPS from the #1 making it at leaast the equal of my whelen.
Anybody playing with one of these, ?
I know I been taling about getting a #1 for awhile now, looked at a lot of them, just have not found the one I really want, but I like this one a lot.

At the velocities given that "old veteran" has dispatched what asked when asked. If you're looking to hotrod it. Get a custom made with a larger cart.

Thomas,

I think the 9.3x74R will pretty much duplicate the 9,3x62 in a singleshot or double rifle. There is also a 232gr bullet for non-dangerous game...like some of those antelope you guys have out there. The Fall 2006 Graf catalog shows Norma 232gr SP Oryx bullets for $44 a hundred and the 286gr SP Alaska for $40 per hundred. But, the PRVI 285gr for $20 a hundred is a "gimme".
