Jay Gorski150 Grain SST 30-06 accuracy?
Just wondering what you guys have been getting for accuracy with this bullet out of your 30-06 rifles, and how they have been performing on deer sized game. Thanks, Jay.
Hey Jay--I loaded em in my .308 and tried a couple of different powders and couldn't get them to shoot as good as the basic interlock 150 non boattail. I've loaded em in .270 for a couple buddies and both reported big holes and lots of bloodshot meat. One guy liked that performance thinking a small grenade will keep the deer from running to the next poster....the other guy said no thanks lets go back to regular hornadies. They look good but I think the regular hornady interlock is a better bullet unless long range shooting is in mind.
Just IMHO they are definately a more explosive bullet than the regular hornady interlock.

vapodogThe bullets are very accurate.....maybe not in your gun but they are accurate bullets as are the standard interlocks. Frankly there's little use for them as the interlocks are better IMO....Better penetration and more frequent pass thrus. I quit using the ballistic tips as well.....just too light jacketed for my taste.

Magnum308Haven't tried the SSts in .30 cal (e.g. .308 -, 30-06, etc) but I have found my Whichester pre 64 M70 fwt in .270 Win won't shoot them well. The 130 gr bullet preferred by my rifle is the Spite flat base (stock # 2730).
Haven't done any work with 150 gr bullets yet. That's next
Cheers & God bless,

Savage99I am loading that bullet for an old M70 .308 Featherweight and it's very accurate. On the other hand that rifle has always been very accurate.
I don't care a whit about blood shot meat. I have way too much venison and it's the middle of June already.

ReloaderSavage 110- 3/4" at 100 yards over 49 grns of H4895, WLR Primers, Win Brass, (MV=2950 fps).
Terrible performance on whitetails. Kills quick but, doesn't exit on a lot of the shots. I Would suggest using the NBT instead.
Good Luck!

AnotherAZWriterI have shot only three animals with this bullet (actually, I can't remember if it was 150 or 165 SSTs) in a .300 SAUM.
Mule deer - 225 yards
Chamois - 205 yards
Tahr - 265 yards
All bullets passed thru the animals, and all took only one shot.
The 150 grain is really accurate in my SAUM (59.5 gr VARGET with that 150 gr SST)
