If you do a search, I believe that this action was covered before. I think this is the military 98 dressed up. Not a bad thing, just keep in mind what you are getting. - Dan

I just purchased a custom 98 mauser chambered for a 270. I bought it because the stock work was beautiful and it had a 98 mauser action. Many consider this to be one of the finest bolt actions available for sporting conversions - one outfit charges $460 just to get a steel floorplate and trigger guard to install on custom made 98 mausers - so the demand is there. Now I put on a Timney trigger and a steel hinged floorplate and trigger guard (from 1904 Peruvian Mauser I found on the internet - $40), glass bedded the thing and it shoots so nice. The 98 BURNO already has the adjustable trigger and hinged floorplate and modern safety. From what I have read of the BURNO it should be a fine weapon - it certainly has the heritage.
