I had a model 70 Classic with a Shilen barrel and McMillan stock in .358 Norma, but I could not get it to shoot worth a damn. I changed the barrel to a PAC-NOR .300 Win. mag., and everything turned out just dandy with this rig. However, I never lost interest in the .358 Norma. So, I took a stainless Ruger Mark ll .338 Win. mag., with a Timney trigger over to Plains, MT, and I am having a Lilja 22 1 in 12 twist .610 at muzzle barrel in a .350 Norma and New England iron back-up sights installed. I have ordered a H-S Precision stock in Spruce Green w/Black for this project. I think this could be the acid test for my 3-9x Conquest. Incidentally, Cabelas is now offering .350 Norma mag. factory ammunition in .250 gr. Swift-A-Frame. CP.

It seems like most people either love the .35's or hate them. I fall into the first category. The 358 Norma is a real classic and might have had a larger following if it were as available as the 338 Win. Some of those 225 grain BT's with a bc of 421 @ 2900 fs would be flat shooting/hard hitting Elk medicne.

Count me in too! I use a 35 rem in a 600 Rem bolt and also a 350 RemMag in a 7ML Rem. They are both used for whitetail hunting in Saskatchewan and have turned into two of my most reliable weapons for late season trophy whitetails. I use the 200gr Hornady Spitzers and have found them to be excellent, I have not recovered any bullets and all were broadside shots with large exit wounds. What more can you ask for. We have used everything under the sun to harvest large whitetails from the light and fast to the heavy and slow but find these medium bores excellent within their range. My .02
