Hey yankees, Let me suggest you scroll up to the Gunsmith Board and look at the Thread on the Sako blow-ups before you totally make up your mind about what you want. Lots of nice flicks to view of some blown-up examples.

I can see where DJ is coming from, but disagree with his loyalty to them.

It appears to me there are actually three problems:

1. Some of the Sako/Tika(now owned by Beretta) rifles are blowing-up and hurting their customers, the shooters.
2. Knowing which rifles are potential bombs is a bit confusing and not totally clear. There is a Serial # listing, but I'm absolutely positive I would not trust it.
3. The Sako Management has totally dropped the ball. They have gone out of their way to maintain secrecy at the SAFETY of their customers.

So, if you want to do business with a company who's Management really doesn't care if their products are blowing you up, Sako/Tika(now owned by Beretta) is the way to go.

Best of luck to you.

I am not worried about shooting the rifles. I mean goodness, lots of more dangerous things going on. Internet can be real bad. Gets people in some panics. I haven't seen any around myself. Gunbroker, and guns america has a few. Yes I have seen the blown up rifles. I think most of those are finlights and small contour stainless ones.

Hey I seen a blown up remington once. Have also heard of them just going off in your hand. Hope that don't get people in a panic.

ISN'T the recall only for a certain range of Stainess Steel rifles?
and the carbon steel are fine?

Personally I don't buy or shoot stainless anything if it can be helped.
I don'tbelieve they are all that great because they aren't as durable as the carbon steel and I shoot my guns, ALOT.

Call 1-800-503-8869 and if you get a recording leave your name serial number of your rifle and your phone number. They will tell you if your's is affected. Most of these rifles have let go VERY early, 20-40 rounds. So if you've shot it quite a bit its probably not affected. But DEFINATELY check and make sure.
