drewhenrytnt35 Whelen- largest animal
For the sake of the original poster lets stop arguing about the power of a particular ctg and get back to the largest animal YOU have taken with the 35 Whelen!!

savage300phdFrom Alaska Brown bear to Texas pigs. All have been shot with cast bullets. Bullet weights ranged from 280 round nose (Favorite) - 320 NEI. Bullets have never failed.

AtkinsonThese arguments or conversations, depending on the posters involved all come about because there is very little practical difference in the hunting fields between most of the cartridges we have, if all bullets are placed equally into said beast, the end results remains the same. but that defeats the arguments and conversations and defeats some peoples chances to retort on their highly read ballistic expertise. The only difference in a 35 Whelen and a 358 Norma is trajectory, the onl difference in a 338-06 and a 338 Win. is trajectory.."killing power" remains the same, even at long range. Hitting the targe at long range is the difference and for those of you who do your hunting before you shoot there is no definable difference..

zimbabweI killed my one and only Elk with a 35Whelen almost 60 years ago and it was most effective. I would have had no qualms taking it to Africa and using on almost everything but Elephant. I think it would be especially effective on Kudu and Wildebeest and Eland. Last one I had was built on a Win 54 action with custom stock and trigger guard from a Model 70.

Because you can NEVER, EVER have a 35 Whelen discussion on this forum without the 9.3x62 crowd trying to take over.
BTW when I see a thread title with "9.3x62" in it, I don't bother to open it let alone post 35 stuff on it. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the 9.3x62 bubbas
On point, I have killed elk, white tails, mule deer, black bear, coyotes, and bobcats with my 35 Whelen.
