As I bought one of the new Remington 700 Classics in 8x57, I was looking up the various European factory ammo loadings. The sites above have ballistic tables for their ammo. I wanted to get an idea of what the European velocity levels are to use as a guideline in developing my 8x57 handloads.

I have shot them, the PMP has the best brass, the S&B is quite accurate in some calibers, but their brass is thin and soft. The Prvi is somewhere in between.

I used the S&B in 7x57 hunting last year and it is excellent as a game load. This was the 187 gr. SPCE bullet. My cuatom Mauser shoots these reasonably well (about 1" at 100 + -), it's not the most accurate factory load I've tried but I wanted to see how the bullet performed. I'll be using it again in May on an exotic hunt.

I've also shot the 8x57 but with open sights and my old eyes I can't really tell what the accuracy is.

Gentlemen,

I am very fond of PMP ammunition. I have used it extensively, in a variety of loadings, including the PMP Supreme or whatever it's called in the black box with the Barnes X bullet and the Pro-Amm in the blue box. I have used it in 7mm RM, .308, and .243 with excellent effect.

The brass is quite thick and lasts for many loadings.

I have used the Wolf brand .45 ACP. Despite the steel cases, (US used steel .45 ACP cases in WWII), it shoots as well as any G.I. ball ammo, and is as accurate as some lots of G.I. Ball Match ammo. Using a carbide die, the cases are reloadable. (Boxer primers). I have NOT used any other calibers of Wolf stuff.
