I recently purchased one of these rifles in 375 H&H. It is my first large caliber rifle.I'd say the rifle is in 99% condition and the action seems quite sound. I guess the question is if there are any minor standard improvements I should contemplate? This is a nice sound rifle obtained at a bargain. I do not wish to re- build it into something it's not, I just want ideas on solid improvements. I am hopeful it will see service with Buffalo. Thanks.

Is it a pushfeed or CRF?

About the opnly thing that "needs" upgrading are the iron sights. I would go NECG banded front & a simple single express leaf rear.

I have the Classic Safari Express and it badly needed having the hot glue bedding material removed and a real bedding job done.

I have one too: Trigger tuning and glass bedding was made: Perfect hunting rifle. With Hornady round nose 300grs bullets I shoot 5 shots within 20mm... (4/5 inch) -> great gun. Last fox was not amused about this kind of gun :-)

Good stuff guys thank you. I know I want some trigger work done, I hadn't thought of the bedding. A fox...must have been pink mist.

Why do you say that, Fjold?

I have a Win M70 Classic Stainless in a synthetic stock, CRF. I adjusted the trigger on this rifle and started working on a load with Reloader 15 and 300 grain Barnes triple shock bullets. With 71 grains my rifle is shooting under an inch and sometimes .5" with 3 shots when I'm doing my part. It also shoots Federal "classic" 270 grain factory bullets into 1" groups time and time again. I too had concerns about that little blob of "hot glue" bedding at the recoil lug but it is serving the rifle well at this point and not harming accuracy, I will put a small amount of real bedding there sometime for durability but I'm not going crazy and bedding the whole thing. I'm not a fan of the front sight but it is serviceable and will remain on there and I'll get a NECG detachable peep for the rear scope base and leave the flip up sight on as well for emergency.
I am considering having the rifle coated with some neutral coating as I'm not a stainless fan.
Mine isn't intended to be a showpeice it is a working utility rifle so all of my mods are intended to add to its utilitarian qualities, not aesthetics.
All in all the rifle is very useable right off the shelf and mine as many others work flawlessly with no messing around with them.
I'd recommend that you adjust the trigger and shoot the rifle a lot, then someday think about re-bedding the recoil lug. Sights are just personal preference.
