I have a commercial Zastava mauser action and will be building an 8x57 on it, I'd like some expiriences with this action, ie. can it have a gas escape hole drilled into the right side of the reciever ring or does it handle gas just fine as is? I believe these are the actions imported by both Interarms and Daly, now Remington. Is a 1 in 10" twist good enough for the 200 Accubonds and Barnes bullets? Finally any expirience with the Accurate innovations stocks? Thanks in advance.

If your action is a Model 47 or the m1924 you have a good platform. I don´t know about the rest Good choice though regarding the caliber DRSS: HQ Scandinavia. Chapters in Sweden & Norway

I have had rifles made on three or four of these actions - the mark X yugoslavian commercial mauser action. They are good actions and do not need a hole drilled into the right side - IMO. The triggers needed some work. The 10" twist is standard for the 8x57 and should be fine too. I have used one of the Accurate Innovation stocks, and it is an excellent product. Mine took a litle to get it bedded properly, but turned out beautiful. Good luck on your project. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~

Thanks guys, I had wondered about the twist because the German military standard and the Lothar Walter site show 1 in 240mm or 9.5" as standard twist and about the only place to get a faster than 1 in 10 is PacNor or a custom cut twist. I want to be sure I can use the 200 Accubonds and 180 Barnes TSX in this rifle. Do I use standard 98 mauser bases on this action to scope it?

The reason for the short 240 mms twist is that it is intended to stabilize the heavy 14,7 grams bullets as well. Carcano -- "Those who sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither."
