What problems would result from using a 9.3X62 neck sizing die and bullet seating die to reload 9.3X64 brass? | ||

You CANNOT force 9.3x64 cases into a 9.3x62 die. If you have a 9.3x64 you will have to get a proper set of dies. CH4D has dies at a very reasonable price. | |||

The difference in case head size is 0.031 inch--with a 9.3X62 neck sizing die there should be enough clearance for the 9.3X64 case (I think)? Not sure about the bullet seating die. I checked CH4D--they have no 9.3X64 dies. | |||

The 64 is .020" to .030" larger at the shoulder than the 62. As long as your die has the necessary clearance it should work. The 62 neck is about .008" smaller if memory serves but your expander ball should expand the 64 brass enough to avoid a tight fit.  Aut vincere aut mori | |||

I've got both cartridge die sets and the 64 don't fit in the 62 dies. . With the cost and scarcity of 64 brass it needs 64 dies. And if the 62 dies would fit 64 brass I would retire them from loading 62 ammo. . The 64 is substantially larger than the 62. Phil Shoemaker : "I went to a .30-06 on a fine old Mauser action. moving the shoulder everytime you load would be a little rough on the brass fireforming every time you shot..I think a set of case forming dies would be necessary? Dennis Olson soften a set of dies for me and recut my 9.3x62 dies to my 375x62 for $35. and worked like a charm. A proper set of dies just doesn't cost that much, and you will be better off in the long or short run. Vic If you think you can force 9.3x64 brass into a 9.3x62 size die or seating die even though the 9.3x64 cases are approx. .031" LARGER when you start..just go right ahead. Let us know how that works out for you. As for CH4D making dies for the 9.3x64.....yes they do. I have a set and they will make a set for you if you call them. But hey you are going to use 9.3x62 dies. | |||

Well, I went back and re-read it. Can't be done! In one of the other threads I had read he wanted to use a 9.3x64 seating die for the 9.3x62 cartridge. Never mind...Iwas going by what was printed in the other thread, I was wrong!
