Looking for people's experiences with this rifle in this chambering (O/U). I ran across one at a good price with a supply of custom ammo loaded with 286-grain Barnes-X bullets. Thanks in advance for your insights!

I have the early version of this, the Valmet 412, they're the same gun. It seems to be a quality gun, the barrels are adjustable for regulation. the barrels are switchable, so you can use it as an O/U 12 gauge, a deer gun or a moose gun. It's heavy in a 308, about right in 12 gauge or 9.3. There were some more barrels kicking around a little while ago (Cape Outfitters, I think), and they should probably be fitted. - Dan

Dan: Thanks for the reply. I've actually owned a Tikka 412 in the past, but with .308/.308 and 12-ga/.308 barrel sets. You're right in that it's pretty heavy for a .308, and I eventually sold or traded it because I had no end of difficulty regulating the .308 barrels. What attracted me to this package was the 9.3x74R O/U barrels plus a 12-ga O/U set, so I thought I'd ask about user/owner experiences with the rifle barrels from this knowledgeable assembly.

I have the Valmet 412 in 30-06, 12 ga , 9.3 and 12/30-06. The 30-06 is regulated for Federal 180gr Nosler partitions, the 9.3 for 286 gr Nosler with 54.6 gr Norma 201. They shoot less than 2" for 4 shots. It's a little heavy but it gets 2 shots off right now when you need it. Regulating the barrels was a little time consuming but only once. I like the gun!
