I'm looking at a NIB Steyr-Mannlicher MIII Professioal rifle with the cyrolac stock. Anyone have any experiences with this particular model. It seems to me that several years ago, I read of mechanical problems with this rifle. I can't recall where I read this info. Advancing years do take their toll. Any and all info would be appreciated.

I have had two of them for a number of years and have never had any trouble with mine. Two is not a big enough universe to make any generalizations from, though... My country gal's just a moonshiner's daughter, but I love her still.

Stoney I have had several Steyr rifles over the years. Including a Professional in 30-06. All the ones I had were the ones with the multiple locking lugs at the rear of the bolt. I still have my first, a Mannlicher Stocked 308. All of were great shooters very accurate. The only problem I had was I broke the trigger guard magazine retaining assembly on my SSG 69 durring a Sniper Match, while shooting. My agency used the SSG 69 as a issue Sniper rifle for several years. Thousands of rounds fired, no problems. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

Stoneybroke, Back in the late 1980's I shot a professional in .30-06 and had numerous problems keeping a trigger guard/magazine assembly in the rifle. It was accurate and I got my Dall ram with it, but I was plagued by doubt and didn't trust it as you would a fine rifle. Member NRA, SCI- Life #358 28+ years now! Stoneybroke As much as I like the Steyr rifles, I like the Blaser R 93 better. Take a look [in person] at one of them. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY
