After a long summer of waiting to try the TSX in my .300 Win mag and hearing all of the hipe I finally got to shoot them and the performance was so good I figured I'd post it.

-All of my groups did this so I settled on the 180 TSX load just over 3100fps in my 24" 700 BDL SS.

75.8gr. of RL-22
Rem cases
FED MATCH MAG primers
Bullets seated .040 off of the rifling.

-Everybody has a dream hunt, mine just happens to be for a Moose.-

-The 30-06 is like a perfect steak next to a campfire, a .300 Win Mag is the same but with mushrooms and a baked potato-

Just one more happy customer.I did my final sight in check for both of my 300ultramags using the 180gr tsx and the result was a 5/8" group for each rifle. This load produces 3360fps to 3380fps out of the 26" barrels.

Great group Magnum 61!

This is getting too easy

TSX's are awesome

BTW, the group on the right is 4 shots in the black square and the holes at the bottom were from another gun that was shooting high at the target below.

They are awesome. I shoot TSX out of all my rifles now (.223, .257 WTBY Mag, .300 Win Mag, .375 H&H Mag). The TSX is definately the most accurate out of all my calibers and the performance on game is devastating.

Now wait until you hit game with them, then you will really be happy.

Stubblejumper,

Would you care to share your loads with us? I've had excellant groups with the Barnes TSX in my .257 and .378 Weatherby Magnums and would like to shoot them in my .300 Rem Ultra Mag.
What kind of bullet performance have you had on game?

Thanks,

Scratch

I have not used the tsx on game myself but I have witnessed a few kills by people that I hunted with.In those cases penetration was great and the wound channel was impressive.None of the bullets were recovered so I can't comment on the retained weight or what the bullet looked like.As far as loads,I am using r-25 in both rifles.I am using different lot#s of powder in each rifle and the barrels are by different manufacturers and the throats are different in length. As a result one rifle is using 88gr of r-25 and the other rifle is using 93gr of r-25 but velocity is within 20fps in both rifles.I am leaving on an elk hunt in the morning so with a little luck,I will have some more information about their performance on game very shortly.

I just came back from checking the sights on my 9.3x62, shooting 250gr Barnes X and I made a figure eight with my last two shots!

Now I just need to wait for the TSX in 9.3 and I´ll be shooting hole in hole mgun

I helped skin an elk out Sunday night.

It was shot at about 300 yards with a 7 STW and TSX 140gr bullets @ 3450fps.

This bullet entered from the rear and busted the hip and continued forward into the chest cavity. Bullet was not recovered!

Terminal performance cannot be beat with these bullets in my experience.

The damn TSX bullets are so boring, they just keep going into the same groups all of the time.

It takes all of the excitement out of working up new loads.
