As a straight shooter around $300 to $375 if it shoots straight. It has been modified and doubt it to be collectible but who knows. Anyway that what I would pay. Frank

I am buying one made in 1932 with a 1932 Vintage Zeiss rifle scope on it, with customized mounts. This one's wood is about 75 % and the bluing is almost gone off of the metal on the this one. I am shelling out $400.00 for it. I am not stealing it or getting raped. I just wanted to have a Model 54 in my collection. I like its feel better than some of the Model 70s they had at the store that were pre 64. They were no better shape and went for a lot more. This one is also in an '06, but I would almost be happier if it was in a 30/30 or a 257 Roberts or 250 Savage. Cheers and Good shooting seafire

I bought one last month for $265 from a pawn shop. It was all original except for the lyman 48 receiver sight that all of them seem to have. Stock was about 75% blue was about 60% except for the bottom metal which had almost no bluing remaining. It was chambered in 30.06 and the bore was excellent. It was serial number 65xx, so it was an early model from around 1926. I sold it at a gun show for $400.00 to the 6th or seventh person who looked at it. Almost everyone made an offer of $350 or better. I purchased it because I knew I could turn a profit on it, but after handling it for several days I almost decided to keep it. They are very well made and an excellent value for someone who wants a pre 64 winchester but doesn't want to pay the high dollar the model 70's are bringing. Seems like most of the auction sites are asking $500 plus. Good shooting, Weagle

Just got one, no rear site, and the gun had been reblued. I had a redfield site for it in my collection, with reciever site and military ball ammo I got a less than 3 inch group at 100 yards on the first range trip. I was pleased. I paid $ 300.00 for it in PA.Have fun .

Sell it to me for $350 and buy a better truck gun. Or I will trade you for a very nice lever gun. Frank

54 and 70 started with the same receiver forging, main 70 improvements were (1) separating bolt stop from trigger (2) front action screw into flat behind recoil lug instead of into recoil lug, this made a big difference in accuracy (3) lower bolt handle. Non-improvement was fattening up the M70 forend.
