Hello all ... What does everyone think of the Remington 700VS, in terms of accuracy and reliability? How does the action and barrel compare to the quality of a Sako. If one had to choose between the 700VS and the Tikka T3 Varmint S/S, which one would it be and why? Any suggestions and/or ideas, please throw them this way. Thanks all!

All of my hunting rifles are built on stainless 700 actions yet I just ordered myself a tikka t-3 stainless varmint in 22-250.I had seriously considered the 700vssf but the tikka is $200 cheaper and I was very impressed with the quality and accuracy of the t-3's that I have seen.I just felt that the t-3 stainless varmint offers more for the money.

I have the Rem in 22-250 and think its the greatest thing since bottled beer. I don't see how it could get much more accurate. The gun club I belong to holds "Factory Varmint" matches where the rifles have to be factory box guns. Mine wins more often than it loses. If I hold my mouth right, I can shoot possibles. I can't compare it to a Sako as I have never owned one. I doubt that I will as I now know the little tweeks that a Rem needs to shoot good. For what its worth, a Remington is like a Ford or Chevy, you can always find someone to work on them if need be. And there are about a gazillion different aftermarket parts you can buy that are drop ins. I don't know about Sakos. ![]()
