Has anyone used the Woodleigh 250gr. Soft Point on game from their 9.3x62? If so how did it perform? Craig

I haven't used the Woodleighs, but like the 250-grain North Forks. The first three shot group with this bullet went .480" in my CZ with RL15, and I know they'll work on game as well.

Craig it is definitely a bullet that I want to try. Woodleigh have also introduced a 286 gr protected point in 9.3 which would be worth considering. The 250 gr woodleigh would work a treat on the game mentioned they hang together and expand. Let us know what you decide.

Thanks guys for your replies. PC, I was hoping you would chime in. I know you use alot of the Woodleigh bullets. I don't have a 9.3x62 yet. In fact I'm picking up the action that I'm going to use for it tonight....a Vz-24 Mauser. I happened to see Midway had the 250gr. Woodleighs on sale and thought I would pick up a couple boxes. I think they would be just the ticket for black bear and moose. Craig

So, PC, I hear you've used a few Woodleighs. I'm considering some different chamberings for a rifle, and speed will be on the low side with any of them. Care to speculate if one would get reliable expansion out to 125 yd with the .338 250 gn RN launched at 2100 fps? How about the .375 270 gn RN at the same speed?

asdf, I have used them in (woodleigh's) in my .416, 45/70 (405 gr flat point, specifically made for the 45/70), .585 Nyati 650 gr Black Powder express soft nose, and have just developed a load in my lott but have yet to shoot any game with the .458 500 gr soft. I have yet to use them in my; .375 & 9.3 cz rifles. With woodleigh's I find they expand even on the smaller animals I shoot which woodleigh bullets are not designed for. But I will bet that the 270 gr RN .375 may expand a little more due to the little extra lead up front possibly. Either way your on the right track with using a RN instead of a spitzer I reckon they are more prone to expand more readily and in a more controlled fashion that spitzers. RN's give better results IMHO. The woodleigh's give you the premium hang together while offering decent expansion.
