I'm posting this information under a few different topics on this and other gun bulletin boards. I received my new special run Remington Model 7600 .35 Whelen today, and of about 200 guns in my collection, this is hands down the worst example of gunmaking that I have seen. Remington has re-defined fit and finish: the boss at Remington threw a fit and so the workers hurried and finished the gun. The cut checkering looks like cat scratching and the wood fit the metal terribly. I'll contact Remington, but you'd think that Grice's Gun Shop in Pa. would've complained also to the factory for shipping such junk. But, hey, when you make a special run and limit production, there'll always be idiots like me sucked in. What a shame that Remington would ship such poor quality !!! I think I'm finished with "Big Green".

I've been 'Finished' with 'Big Green' for about 10 years now.......they offer nothing that I want any more.

I just spent a week unscrewing all of Remington's finish work on a customer's gun. I have never liked them, never will. The 870's have even been a bigger nightmare. Maybe it is time for them to go away. Aleko

Hey Guys, I've never liked Remington and don't have much good to say about any of the gun manufactures, with the exception of Ruger. My rifles are all custom Mausers of one nationality or the other but, if I were to by an off the shelf rifle it would be a Ruger. I've handled a few new Rugers form time to time and the quality really is nice. Good Shooting, Smoker
