I have a 24 inch bareled 270 Win that is a tackdriver also and with reloads I get 3150 fps with the 130 grain Hornady and 2950 with the 150 grain Hornady both flat based spire points. I use this rifle for my more open country hunting and though it is not a lightweight I shoot it very well on game and find it a bit destructive on deer at close range. My close to intermediate rifle is a flyweight 7x57 that kills well and with heavier bullets performs properly at the lesser ranges. Would I prefer to use a light 270 WSM for both situations , no but I might buy one sooner or later to play with. Oh yeah, Hornady's light magnum 270 Winchester loads match the 270 WSM factory loads very closely.

Part of the reason I love the 270 WSM is the Kimber 8400. They fit me as well as any factory rifle and shoot great for such a light one. Here is how mine has shot with premium hunting bullets at 200 yds, The velocity is right at 200 fps more than my 270 Winchester shoots with the same bullet, barrel length and powder. The 270 Win is a fantastic cartridge, the 270 WSM is the same but 200fps faster and can be had in handier rifles.......DJ
